Home Manicure

Since people are always asking me how to do your nails at home I figured I would make a spot for all of the needed items in one place. So here goes. You will need the following...

A light to cure your gel nails

As for the nail polish I have found a few favorite brands that survive the trauma a nurses hands must endure. Regardless of which type you get you need to make sure that the top and base coat you use match the nail polish for best results.
For the absolute best wear time and resilience I haven't found anything that can compete with Aimeili gel polish.

If your nails need some extra strength they also make a builder base

They have very mellow professional colors

And crazy neon colors

And fun color palettes in smaller bottles

And my personal favorite is polish that changes color based on the temperature

You need a rough nail file to break the seal before you steam your polish off

And a bottle of regular rubbing alcohol to prep the nail beds before you put polish on and to wipe the polish after the last coat. You can use cotton but I find that leaves tiny fibers so I use these pads

These are all the tools you need in addition to the nail polish itself.

So anyone who has ever picked off their gel polish knows about the damage it does to your nails. I can say all day not to pick at it but even I forget from time to time. Having thin brittle damaged nails is no fun for anyone. Fortunately I found a treatment that actually strengthens your nails and repairs the damage if you forget and do a little picking. It’s a little pricy but totally worth the cost and the bottles last forever.

Have fun!
